Homeschooling 101....

Well, we are in our first week of school and it is going really well. Kasey is a 4th grader!! We are using My Father's World Exploring Countries and Cultures and it is going to be a thorough study of Geography. That was something I wasn't the best at in school, so Kasey and I will be learning together.

If I can ever figure out how to upload pics, I've taken some great ones and will continue to do so during the year.

Kasey is the best little student. She was able to take 4 tests in math and practically ace them all, thereby skipping the first 40 lessons!!! That was SWEET!!!! It is so nice not wasting time repeating stuff she already knows. So, we are all set to finish up the book early and get to do some fun math stuff in the final months of school. But, that is getting a bit ahead since we are only on the first week.

Today we took a nature walk to a beautiful spot in our town. We also have gotten involved in letterboxing and we placed a letterbox in honor of Kasey's Grandma Shirley. My mom would have really enjoyed watching Kasey find the perfect spot for the letterbox and also would have enjoyed watching Kasey do school outside while we had a picnic.

All in all, it was a great day.

Next week, we get to bake a cake of the world!! Fun! Fun!! Fun!!!
Later,
Karla

I'm going to have to look into letterboxing. We did an easy geocache one day, but it was too easy, we didn't even need to set coordinates, you could see the box. But it was in a neat cemetary out in Huffman.

OMGosh!! We are sooo hooked on letterboxing.

It is a real motivator for Kasey to get done with her work on Friday's just so she can beg me to take her letterboxing!!
